Position of Town Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer

25 hours per week NALC Pay Scale SCP 18 to 23 (£24,982- £27,741 pro rata) actual salary for 25 hours £16,879 to £18,743 dependent on qualifications and experience

Whitworth Town Council acts as a pressure group upholding the rights and values of the Township, as a sounding board for local opinion and as a centre for retaining and enforcing the Town's historical, cultural and social identity. In the defence of local interests, the Town Council inspects and comments on all planning applications and is consulted on new byelaws.

The council has a current precept of £58,330 and 3 staff. The population as per the 2011 Census is 7,500, the results of the 2021 census have yet to be published but we expect to see a large increase. The successful applicant will provide strong administrational support to the Town Council, and demonstrate passion and commitment to the town. He/she will be responsible for all aspects of the managerial, administrative and financial operations of the Council.

The post is 25 hours per week. Ordinary working hours would be 9.30 to 2pm (negotiable), Monday to Friday with a requirement to attend some evening meetings and out of hours working.
