Section 137 spending limit for 2023 - 2024

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities advised that the appropriate sum for the purpose of section 137(4)(a) of the Local Government Act 1972 for parish and town councils in England for 2023-2024 is £9.93.

The amount is as a result from increasing the amount of £8.82 for 2022-2023 by the percentage increase in the retail index between September 2021 and September 2022, in accordance with Schedule 12B to the 1972 Act.
