News Round-up - Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner - 10th May 2022

12th of May, 2022

Hello and welcome to the latest, slightly delayed instalment of the news round-up. As we move into May and begin to look forward to summer, I'll once again be getting out and about to a series of events, meeting officers, members of the public and hopefully enjoying some good weather whilst continuing to work as the public's voice in policing.

At the end of April, I had the opportunity to again congratulate my Deputy, Andy Pratt MBE as he officially received his award at Lancaster Castle.

I am proud of Andy and his fully deserved MBE is an example of why he was my first choice to become my Deputy. His help, support and knowledge has already been vital as we lead the fight against crime together and deliver the policing service the public expect and deserve.

Through his role as Chair of the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership, one of the priorities in my Police and Crime Plan  Andy is leading on is the targeting of dangerous drivers. Recently I was really pleased to see the roll-out of Operation Snap, which allows the submission of dashcam footage to help take action against those driving dangerously and putting others at risk. This is going from strength to strength with over 600 submissions, and half of these so far resulting in action being taken. Read more on this below.

I was delighted to spend the morning with Sharon Hartley on BBC Radio Lancashire answering calls from the public on everything from dangerous driving to investing in neighbourhood policing and my Fighting Crime Plan.

Finally, I have some personal news to share as I'm delighted to say that last week, on May 4th, my wife Caroline and I welcomed our son, Walter, into the world.  Both mum and baby are doing amazingly and it has been an incredible first week getting to know him and spending this precious time together.
