Hello and welcome to my latest news round-up, which will keep you up to date on the fight against crime in Lancashire. In my last roundup I shared updates around my shift with armed response officers and spending time with the police dogs who enjoyed tackling me as part of their bite and hold training. Over the past two weeks I have continued to spend time with front line officers to see first hand how they tackle crime and take the fight to criminals. This week I had the chance to join a drugs raid in Preston where large amounts of drugs were found which resulted in an arrest being made at the scene. I've also had the opportunity to visit our mounted branch and spend some time with our beautiful police horses and their handlers who are ready for action to offer support in a range of scenarios from busy events like football matches, protests and parades to community policing and patrols. It was interesting to hear from the Lancashire Youth Commission who reported back their key findings regarding young people's views on crime and policing in Lancashire as part of their ‘big conversation’ conference and I was pleased to be able to join them at the event and thank them for their work. I'm really pleased to say that we have started to see applications coming in for my recently launched Safer Lancashire Neighbourhoods Fund which supports projects to make communities across Lancashire safer where it is needed most. Yesterday evening I joined a meeting with West Lancashire Borough Council and, as the public's voice in policing, I will continue to work with partners across Lancashire to keep on top of local issues and to ensure that we can target our resources where they are needed most.
