29th of October, 2021
Update: This post has now been filled and Val Watson will begin working for LALC on 1st January 2022 - WELCOME to Val.
The Lancashire Association of Local Councils (LALC) has a proud tradition of championing parish and town councils across Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester. We support parish and town councils in their important role as the first tier of local government, representing local people and providing excellent services to their communities. We provide advice, guidance, information and training opportunities for councillors and clerks to help them in their role.
We are also a strong voice for the sector and do all that we can to promote the benefits of parish and town councils. As an affiliate of the National Association of Local Councils we are able to influence nationally, regionally and locally on behalf of our members.
Following the retirement of our long-serving Chief Officer from LALC, we have carried out a fundamental review of our organisation and are now moving to a more flexible modern way of working that will serve our members and wider sector better.
Salary £5,000 per year for 7 hours per week, pattern to be agreed, initially 2-years fixed term
Key duties include:
Develop an annual training and development plan for LALC based on the needs of our members and the parish and town council sector
Implement and administer our online booking system to manage the delivery of the training programme, including booking trainers and course providers
Design and organise conferences and other network events
Who we are looking for:
You should be proactive, have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and customer-focussed with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience and knowledge of parish and town councils is essential. The role requires someone who has strong organisational, prioritisation and IT skills.
The need to be forward thinking and look at how we can continuously improve are also essential qualities.
Working arrangements
These posts are home-based and appropriate support will be provided to facilitate this. There will be a requirement to travel around the region on occasion as part of these roles. The working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate to meet the needs of the association and employee.
