News from the LALC
LALC Annual Conference
The conference will be held once again at the Leyland Hotel (Junction 28 of the M6 Motorway)on October 29th. There is a varied programme, including an update on national matters from the Chief Executive of the National Association of Local Councils, a presentation of the new pension requirements from October 2012 and a presentation on Gipsy, Roma and Traveller encampments. Creation of Parish Councils
The Association offers support for those groups wishing to create a new parish council. Information is available and attendance at public meetings to discuss the procedures can be arranged.
Quality Parish/Town Councils
Status. There is a total of 24 Quality Parishes in Lancashire and Merseyside,eight of which have obtained re-accreditation. Another parish is currently applying for re-accreditation.
Applications are examined by the Lancashire Accreditation Panel and are made through the Lancashire Association.
There are 10 tests to comply with and a portfolio of evidence is submitted for consideration. Further information is available from the office.
Annual General Meeting 2011
The AGM will be held on Saturday 12th November at County Hall following the Lancashire County Council Parish Conference.
